Spirit and FURIA both broke through the same unusual way. Who's set up to do it next?

One grew a core internally. One made two precise external signings. Different methods, same underlying move: fixing exactly one specific gap instead of rebuilding everything.

Two of the more interesting rosters in the current era got there by completely different routes. Spirit built donk, zont1x, and magixx up through their own academy rather than buying a core. FURIA made two external signings, molodoy in April 2025 and YEKINDAR shortly after, and rode that directly to #1 by December.

Different methods, same underlying logic: both teams identified one specific, narrow gap and closed it precisely, instead of tearing the whole roster down and hoping a different combination of five names worked better. Spirit's gap was internal pipeline talent nobody else had scouted yet. FURIA's gap was a round-winning individual ceiling that fundamentals alone weren't providing.

That's a genuinely useful lens for looking at the rest of the field, more useful than just re-ranking who's currently hot. A team with a real foundation, a genuine identity, and one specific hole is a much better prediction candidate than a team that looks broadly mediocre across the board. The interesting question isn't "who's good right now," it's "who has exactly one fixable gap and the right infrastructure to fix it precisely."

Worth arguing about, the actual prediction: name a team you think fits that profile right now, one real specific gap, not a full rebuild, and say what signing or promotion you think closes it.

Argue it out in the discussion thread — that is where this actually gets resolved.
